Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
' interesting, but I actually would never consider one - certainly not for this rural location, nor for the nearby murderous city...and nor to carry any tuba worth more than $800.

I would love to take the drive too, have thought about it but at my age -- nah. Good excuse to playtest a tuba, ha.
I love the Far North but don't have sufficient meat on my bones to live there.

Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
This would be a 6,250-mile roundtrip drive for me.
omg…
I hate the PT6-P about as much as I love the original PT6. If you can find a buyer who can swing a drive up your way (a fellow NT resident) this is a decent deal for a great tuba.
I'm sorry I don't live a lot closer to you.
Best of luck in your sale --- and BUMP!

Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
I just pulled up a map from Sebeka, MN to Yellowknife. Thru North Dakota, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and NWT it shows 11 areas of traffic congestion. At 10 am. What? This us driving thru some of the least populated areas in North America. That just strikes me as odd and funny.
I'd love to make this trip.
Tim

I continue to have no need for this, nor time to go and get it, but it is kind of amazing that an enterprising college student hasn’t made the trip yet. Great horn, great price, epic road trip.
Yellowknife has 11 official languages and more than 70 unofficial languages! It would be a cultural expedition too!

Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
Were this ONLY 1000 or 1200 miles away from me, I would grab my one-and-only C instrument, drive there, and seriously A/B the two instruments for an hour or two.
(I can tell in two or three minutes whether or not a tuba is “good“, but - to be able to tell whether it’s better than what I have - takes a little bit longer.)
this one: “I prefer pistons.”
that one: “I prefer rotary valves.”
bloke: “I prefer extraordinarily good.”

For those watching this thread with great interest, a quick note:
If you're waiting for a price drop, there isn't going to be one. There is considerable interest but it's been mostly tire kickers at this point.

CAD to USD went from 0.77 to 0.76 yesterday.
There's your $100 price drop, US folks.

Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
Several people - I'm sure - would have already bought this...but it's almost not in this hemisphere.
Re: PT-6 Rotary, Lacquer
I get it. Not in an ideal location for many, if not most.
That said, a long, inconvenient one-time trip for an endgame tuba....
Bump again
