tuning characteristics changing

This morning, my really large B-flat tuba's minor tuning quirks are less, and some are non-existent.

The humidity is low, but it has been low for two or three weeks, and I also played last night.

The temperature in here is the same - 71 degrees.

I'm not playing any better than I was last night, and I'm not favoring/lipping anything.

' same mouthpiece, same personal habits (tuba collects water quickly, and I let it out conscientiously), etc.

What gives?

Air pressure.

To that end, insert a paragraph into your Master Agreement that states you will not perform unless the ambient pressure is nearly equal to what the barometer reading is currently at blokeplace.

The two lower 2-3 pitches (F-sharp/C-sharp - normally sharper than the two upper F-sharps) aren't very sharp at all (any?)

The 3rd partial open F (normally requires lipping - until the large end of the tuba is warmer) was up to pitch right off the bat.

I'm not "getting used to" the tuba...This is from last night to this morning.

I suspect (after I hit "submit", and go back to playing for a bit - until I need to go out and repair horns) things will be back the way they normally are.

That’s a good question, but it was in its same old place…and the two lower 2–3 valve combination pitches always stay sharp - regardless of warmed up or not…except this morning.

Don’t worry:
Tomorrow morning, those positive anomalies will have disappeared. and this instrument overall… I really couldn’t ask for better tuning characteristics.

Did you drop a mouthpiece on the horn somewhere? Could've changed a node.

That’s a good one (..,just like the F tuba guy’s Dumbo’s-feather dent. Since my F tuba’s “low C” plays fine without a dent, I suppose I shouldn’t dare dent it, then…??)

Open lower B-flat rode a bit sharp.
It’s fine now, compared to all the other open pitches… I guess (??) I could’ve learned how to play it… but I’m not having to make any adjustments as far as playing it “more open“; it’s simply no longer riding high.

The two lower 2-3 pitches were both pretty sharp. Now, D-flat is fine, and only low F-sharp is high. (I have two different ideas on ways to fix the low F-sharp, both of which are viable.)
