Cheap handmade MW 6450/2 at Dillon
https://www.ebay.com/itm/304675515132?h ... R8b03YOCYQ
Listed at 12k on eBay but not on the Dillon site yet so it's likely a few hundred bucks cheaper directly from Dillon.
Have we hit peak 6/4 saturation inasmuch as used handmade Baers are going for about the same as a new Eastman 836?

I sent them an email. I’d really like a Baer. One of the few things I’d let my MRP go for.

I'm quite convinced that my 5450 is miles better than most any new one, but - for people stare at their phones and buy pictures (and are need-a-C-tuba-for-college people), I doubt that any of those would be convinced (or be able to tell a difference...??)

Sometimes Dillon will use "out of stock" as a designation for items that someone has requested they put on layaway for trial. I did that with my Eastman and the product was still showing up for the week leading up to my visit as "out of stock," and once bought, it is just gone from the website. So perhaps someone is going to be trying it out soon.
Poking around on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, WWBW was selling handmade Baers in 2011 for about $25,000.

Re: Cheap handmade MW 6450/2 at Dillon
I bought it.
I’ve wanted to have one of these around for quite a few years. The price of a new one, and the frequency that my Alexander CC wasn’t big enough (really almost never happens) kept me from pulling the trigger. The price on this one was really low so I called Matt. We talked through a few things about this particular tuba, and I told him to send it. He didn’t oversell or anything, but was spot on in his assessment (let’s be honest here, Matt is great). I’ve only got some pops shows and quintet gigs for the next couple of months so I can get used to it before I have anything major on the calendar.
Cheers!

You’ll have to give us your own review and assessment when you get a chance. Congratulations!Brendan Bohnhorst wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:41 am I bought it.
