flip-flop: Mahler 1

Post by bloke »

Some musical chairs this weekend, and - instead of Carmina Burana - I am suddenly doing the “Titan” with the Memphis Symphony SATURDAY at 7:30 PM central time, and it’s going to be broadcast (per routine) live on WKNO FM.

We are also playing Brahms Academic Festival Overture and couple of other shorter pieces.

I have a couple of comp tickets to offer.
I can’t think of anyone on the tubaforum here who might be able to use them, so I think I’m probably going to offer them up on Facebook - where I know many more local-to-me people.

I’m going to use the small Holton B-flat and the trusty old F tuba on the Mahler and probably the B-flat on the other stuff. Fat Bastard gets the weekend off after all.

Dress rehearsal is tomorrow morning… As of tonight, I changed my mind and I have decided to play the entire Mahler and the Brahms on the F tuba.

There’s one other little piece on the program, and I’m going to play that on the Holton B-flat.

a rare picture of a retirement-age tuba player (and without the trombones) given a bow...
