My understanding is Besson made these to bring the pitch down to something akin to A=440, and while they still reference it as available they haven't been responsive when it comes to inquiries about about them.
So if you have one, or know of anyone who has one and is willing to part with it please let me know. finish doesn't matter. Thanks!

Re: Longer tuning slide for Besson 981 Eb
Might it be a case of buying a standard slide and getting someone to lengthen the legs? Not ideal but pragmatic.
I suppose you’ve considered a tuning bit already and rejected the idea.
The main tuning slide on Tubas can be ridiculously short.

Not my horn or project, just helping out a friend. He's tried a tuning bit (2, actually)but the response gets.... wonky. Lengthening is an option but an OEM slide is probably the cheapest and simplest solution at this point.
