Very good deal in my opinion! I love the wide bell kranz too.

I imagine it'll be a skosh cheaper when it gets posted on the Dillon site.

Clocksprings plus possibly noisy S links give me pause. But if I were in the market I'd be really tempted at that price.

I owned a 184 from this era -- maybe a little later, didn't have clocksprings -- and I wonder if the playing characteristics are similar between this era's 184 and 186.

S links can be quick and silent if repaired correctly. My 5/4 Rudy had awesome S link valves, smooth and silent as anything else I've had, or better.

If I had the $...!

Fer sure. My old 1950s/60s Alex Vienna F had silent S links. But you can never tell through pics with an old horn, of course. If I hadn't just bought my Eastman I'd definitely give this some consideration.

I had a 186 BBb with one of those keels on the bottom bow. Didn't like it. Cut into my lap. Sold it for other reasons.

Easy fix...remove that keel so you don't end up singing soprano.. :smilie6:

The keel wasn't the reason I sold it. I just didn't like the way it played. Maybe it was my ability but, still, I sold it. Made out about even.
