FS: Mirafone 181 5V F Tuba (SOLD)

Post by Porky »

Hello everyone I’m selling a vintage Miraphone 5V F it would be what B&S would use to copy/make their PT10 model. The model number is 181. The linkages have been upgraded by another owner and the original ones will be included with the sale aswell as a gig bag. Sound is very even from top to bottom low register is above average for a rotary F tuba. In many respects it’s easier than most rotor F’s I’ve played. Pitch is very consistent aswell nothing wonky or weird besides the usual tendencies of these types of horns.

Location : Texas

Pictures are sent upon request.

I’m not interested in shipping the tuba unless the buyer pays for it and accepts full responsibility for it.

Price: 6k OBO

I remember the SA, TX people telling me that.

I don't know enough to say who copied whom, but this particular tuba turns out to be as nice to play as the seller claims.

This practicing trick actually seems to be working!

I remember (before they were shuttered, and Conn-Selmer bought a few models' tooling) Leblanc USA coming out with a "Holton" knock-off of a regular-everything Bach Stradivarius trumpet...

...and seem to recall stuff being claimed, such as "well...Frank Holton and Vincent Bach...blah-blah-blah...and so this design is actually a Frank Holton design that Vincent Bach adopted after they split up..." (or some such a yarn...)
