I had an Alexander D trumpet that had a beautiful tone. It was in tune with itself, valves were smooth, etc. Problem was that the open bugle was in C# with all the slides in. I returned the trumpet.
I think that the major brass instrument output of Alexander is the French Horn.

When I played trumpet in the 21st Army Band at Fort Lewis WA 1960-61 we had three excellent Alexander double horns as part of our 28 piece instrumentation. The larger (48 piece) band on post at that time was the Fourth Infantry Division Band which had four Conn 8D double horns. Both bands rehearsed together, and we marched as one very large band for special parades such as in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia as guests of the Canadian Army. Their Jericho Barracks facility was our overnight quarters-----great dining, great beds, etc. The Canadian military does it right. Also, the Canadian citizens watching the parade were really enthusiastic and generous with their applause. Our 80 strong bandsmen on the street put on quite show with a huge wall of sound.
Does Alexander currently manufacture any trombones? I've seen a few older ones around...I remember Doug Elliott mentioning on another board (TromboneChat I think) that he has tried a few, and they were not good. No personal experience for me though.
I've been keeping my eyes peeled for an Alexander 146 tenor horn. Looking for some sort of tenor horn that has decent pitch...
