Denis Wick Heritage 5L mpc

Post by Alebeard »

Found one of these cheaper as it was a demo. I haven't been able to find much info on them, any thoughts on this mouthpiece? I have a Megatone 22 and Olka CB1-A mouthpieces and are looking for one other kind to see what I will end up liking. Thanks!

Cheers,
Jared

I had a 5 "Classic" that I liked. I assume the 5 and 5L are the same inside - that the smaller shank doesn't affect backbore etc. - and that the Classic and Heritage sound the same, the Classic just looks better. The 5 is fairly deep, for a small mouthpiece, and it has a nice regular tuba sound. Wick mouthpiece plating hasn't held up very well for me, but that's based on just a couple examples.

We’re all different and I’m unsure what pitch instrument you intend to use the Wick 5 with. I’ve been pleased to use a Wick 5 with a three valve Eb and a Brass Band pal even played a BBb with one too - he used what came with the old instrument supplied to him. Asking such a small cup to work with BBb’s and four valve Eb’s is unlikely to end well: a poor match and just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should.
