Hi all - somewhere along the line, someone sent me this photo of John Kuhn in Sousa's Band in 1920 . . .
Do any of you out there happen to know the source of this Sousa Band photo? I'm trying to track down the full band photo, ideally as a hi-res digital file.
Thanks for your help!
Dave
Do you know where this photo of Kuhn came from?

Played an F. E. Olds 4-valve BBb in high school (late '70s)
Led the USC Trojan Marching Band tuba section (early '80s)
Now playing an F. Schmidt (=VMI) 3301 and goofing around
on a 1925 Pan American Sousaphone and an 1899 Conn tuba!

Re: Do you know where this photo of Kuhn came from?
What was the last year he was in that band?
My Dad (b. 1916) was a small boy when my Granddad took him to see the Sousa Band in Kansas City.
(The band was considered to be "rock stars" at that time.)
My Dad - entering a nearby restaurant shortly after the concert with Granddad - also tells me of his disappointment when he saw quite a few of the band members partially still in uniform (coats off - sleeves rolled up - drinking coffee/etc., and smoking) in that same restaurant, as - in his mind (a small boy's concept - and Grandma was RADICALLY pro-temperance even including "stimulants" such as caffeine, as well as anti-smoking) - they were gods.
I don't actually know how young my Dad was, but - apparently - the (non-military) Sousa Band toured until 1931...correct?
