FS: Olds Ambassador tenor trombone
I am selling two tenor trombones:
- King 1306 Tempo nickel-plated straight tenor. ca. 1980s horn. Curved brace. Great sound, some dings/dents/scuffs on bell, slide has a bit of a hitch coming into first position. Some fixing up and it will be a great player. Includes King case. $250 + shipping SOLD
- Olds Ambassador, ca. 1976. In fantastic shape, a bit of lacquer wear but slide is great and it is still in very nice condition. Comes with case. Would be a great starter trombone, heavy bracing and a nice sound. $200 + shipping
Located in Southeastern CT. PM or email BeanHillBrass at gmail dot com. Thanks!

That Olds counterweight reminds me of an old-school TV station logo. Love it!
What's it cost to ship a trombone these days?

Depending on how far its going, how its packed, and who takes it, it can cost from $40-$120. I recently paid $45 to ship from PA to VA for a small bore in an old wooden case. To go across the country might be $75. If packed really well, it can be sent without a case and cost a lot less.
The 1306 has a reputation as a great player "poor man's 2B". The Ambassador is a typically very well built, heavy-ish student instrument that still plays well.

Re: FS: King 1306 nickel-plated + Olds Ambassador tenor trombones
The degradation of the Tempo model was as follows:
A.
- bell section parts-interchangeable with 2B
- slide section SINGLE .491" bore with BRASS (not nickel) outside slide tubes.
--------------------------------------------------
B.
- curved brace, but SHORT - basically a "Cleveland" model, except with a curved brace and nickel plated bell
-------------------------------------------------
C.
- basically, a nickel plated student model
-------------------------------------------------
D.
- no different from a student model, brass lacquered, but engraved "TEMPO"
==================================
A. was the "cool" one, basically like a nickel plated/brass slide tubes version of a (came later) Jiggs Whigham model
A. was introduced to compete (looks and size) with the Conn Connstellation.
As the Connstellation faded in popularity, there was no longer a need for the Tempo product.

I am by no means a talented trombonist, but I do occasionally double, and that King makes me sound better than I am.
King case: black, in great shape
Olds case: brownish, wooden, smells like mothballs, but in fair shape. It was missing the handle so I replaced it with a bit of rope.

The 1306 Tempo specifically (which I believe falls into Bloke's "B" category) is somewhat known for being one of the loudest trombones ever made, making it a weapon on loud rock and salsa gigs. I've been sort of wanting to pick one up for a little while for that reason.
I mostly play the slidey thing.
