Brass Mammoth

Post by Kent Eshelman »

The new quartet Brass Mammoth (Ben Pierce, Matthew Murchison, Zach Collins, and myself) will perform at Baylor University this Tuesday, March 21, 7:30 (Central). We were scheduled to play at the USABTEW but couldn't make it out of Arkansas and Texas because of the massive ice storm, so this will be our debut!

Livestream at https://www.baylor.edu/music/index.php?id=955788 (from Roxy Grove Hall)

Program will be selected from:
Bulgarian Three (Traditional, arr. Murchison)
Cantus Firmest (Anthony O’Toole)
Emma Catherine (Omar Thomas)
Festival Fanfare (Frank Lynn Payne)
Fortitude (Kent Eshelman)
Happiness Theme (Guaraldi, arr. Murchison)
“Heartsease” from Grandmother’s Garden (Amy Beach, arr. Alberti)
Hipster Squirrel, Vol. 2 (Matthew Murchison)
Honeysuckle Rose (Fats Waller, arr. Eshelman)
Lux Aurumque (Eric Whitacre, arr. Pierce)
Psalm (Zach Collins)
String Quartet No. 3, Mvt. 3 (Dmitri Shostakovich, arr. van Devender)
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Johann Sebastian Bach, arr. Pierce)
“Lilly My Love” from Urban Suite (Shawn Kelley)

Hope you can make it!

Was hoping for Hipster Squirrel, Vol. 1, so unfortunately I can't make it.

Just kidding. Break a leg! Looks like a great program. It's always nice when all members of a group do their own arrangements and such. Adds a level of personalization and the ability to cater to a group's strengths. And this lineup definitely has a lot of strengths. I'll be checking out the livestream.

My apologies to anyone who tried to check out the livestream last night. As it turned out, I was mistaken in thinking the concert was going to be livestreamed. But, we look forward to performing at ITEC in a couple months!
