This made my day
This performance got me going today. Loved it. It's Dave Werden, euphonium, playing Sousa. Sara Brunk on piano adds to the charm. She really gets into her job, adding old fashioned spark to the music.

Re: This made my day
thank you... i always take time to listen to Dave play, he's one of my euphonium heros... i love that march... we played it a couple of times. i was lucky enough to be play euph at the time in that band instead of tuba. we played black horse troop that program too... great fun!

This is great, thanks for sharing! Might need to purchase this music and add it to my personal library.
I'm also a big fan of his Carnival of Venice recording (on the double-bell euphonium).

Re: This made my day
Dave does a wonderful job of teaching, arranging, and performing. At a time of life when - after a long and successful career - many of us would throttle-back and coast along with "me-time" Dave stays out there, active, and giving of himself. If you're anywhere near the Twin Cities, meet up with him for a lesson or two. Dave is a knowledgeable, personable, likeable guy; time spent with him is always worthwhile.
I was fortunate to arrive early for a lesson, got to hear Dave and Sara play together for close to half an hour. What a treat!

Re: This made my day
As I respect him very much, I was flattered when he took to heart my argument ("argument" as in "point" as in "discussion") that all of his various makes of euphoniums' tuning charts are based on the "tuning B-flat" being "the center of the universe"...and - with some instruments - if the "tuning note" (B-flat) were allowed to be out-of-tune (again: on some of his instruments' tuning charts) the overall intonation of some of those instruments would show as much better than they show - when charts "insist" on the "tuning B-flat" being in-tune.

Dave Werden puts a lot of great stuff on Instagram as well as YouTube.
A marvelous player and he’s spreading the good word of playing and discipline.
