WTB - Finger Buttons That Match These

Post by the elephant »

This has been languishing in WTB for some time, and I need these soonish, so I am crossposting here because this is where people actually look at ads. I was the person over on TN who suggested calving off WTB from For Sale, and I freely admit that this may have been a mistake, as no one really thinks, "Hey, I have lots of stuff. Lets's go see who wants to buy it!" So I need the larger audience that this forum has. Pull this if you need to, but please don't. THANKS! :teeth:

I need two in this *exact* style in lacquered or raw brass. I am willing to pay more for an *exact* match. I am not willing to pay very less for an inexact match. I do not want silver plating but will take what I can get. I need two. They must be in excellent condition.

If you pimped out your tuba with fancy finger buttons and have some of these you would be willing to sell, please post here or PM me. I can provide very accurate measurements of the various diameters, thicknesses, and pearl diameters of what I have. I need to see photos of a similar quality to mine below, possibly with a ruler next to them.

NOTE: If you, by some miracle, happen to have six or eight of the EXACT same shape as the brass ones below that match each other EXACTLY in ALL REGARDS I will pay top dollar for them. (If you can't see the difference between the brass and silver buttons just walk on by, cowboy.) :smilie8:

I want two of these to make new levers for the 5th and 6th valves on my Kurath. I like the coins, but they *really* stick out as not belonging to the tuba. Having finger buttons that match what I have is the next step. Failing that, I suppose I will have to chop up some old rotary valve paddles, which will take much more work than finger buttons.

The thread pitch is not important and they do not even have to match one another, but the exteriors must match what is in the photos above, in silver plated, lacquered, or raw brass.

Solid nickel silver buttons like this probably do not exist. If you have a set of four of these in NS I'll name my first child after you (in addition to paying or trading for them).

No interest in age, just how well they match. I know of this guy. I did not know he made buttons.

These seem to be dead common and are usually what is ditched for those pimped-out buttons with magical unicorn stones and special alien metals that you can get online at places like Mouthpiece Express. In fact, one of the two designs offered by them back in the day was this exact shape. I can't find it now.

I think these came on HB, B&S, MW, B&M, and all other tubas that used Nirschl valve sets at some point in their past.

Anyway, since no one ever throws stuff like this away, with all the pimp-boy buttons out there, surely someone has a set of these in a drawer or a box. Surely everyone who has "upgraded" to the swagalistic buttons still has their old ones. And many of those are the same design that I want.

SELL ME YOUR OLD BUTTONS! If they look like these, send me a pic and a price, and I'll tell you if 1) I want them, and 2) I can afford your price. I *need* two. I can easily use six, so a set of four or two sets of four would be a great addition to my parts bins, as one day they will be used. (But I will need two buttons pretty soon.)
