Los Angeles Philharmonic

Post by Ace »

I just ran across this FaceBook item featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I am very biased, but I'd bet this is darn near the best orchestra anywhere. Intonation, articulation, ensemble beauty and precision are really extraordinary. Hope this link works. The bass trombone/tuba duo is fantastic. You did good, Norm Pearson. I was thrilled to see a long term Berkeley friend on cello----she's the only female in the cello section.

I hear Norm was retiring (not just because of Covid, I heard it from a trusted source way before that). Those are some huge shoes to phil :facepalm2:

Before Amy Jo got that job, she was principal in our IRIS Orchestra.
Her husband is also one of the horn players in the LAPO.

Kristi Crago (of Burning River Brass) moved up to Amy Jo's chair, when she left.

Thanks Joe. It's very interesting to learn about Amy Jo Rhine's connection to your Iris Orchestra. Amy Jo Rhine has an impeccable background.
