There is a fantasy frankentuba in the back of my mind
Conn Giant Eb with 3 more VALVES.
from description: All valves, slides and keys work. Valves 1-4 are standard, 5 is 1/2 step and 6 is 3 1/2 with enough slide to go to 4 steps.

I remember Howard Johnson's 4+2 Mahillon F. It seemed like a a great layout, but it had some intonation concerns.

As for the French C: while Mahillon was a relatively "early adopter" of the French C concept, I question the build quality. Look at the 2nd valve slide (on OP's photo). Doesn't it look flattened/crimped?
