Verdi's "cimbasso" FINALLY unearthed !!!!!!

Post by bloke »

- looks goofy
- made in an Italian enclave (OK...technically Switzerland, but really close)
- pitched in F

This MUST be it...

Aesthetically, I think that's a pretty cool tuba. I love the m.o.p. inlays on the paddles.

edit: doesn't look like real mother of pearl...?

Well, if it's not real mother pearl, I'm no longer interested in purchasing the instrument.

I'd love to play one of those Kalison tuba-shaped cimbassos. It's hard to even find a picture of them now.

Alas, I'm too broke to buy your baritone let alone import an unknown tuba. 😃
Nice long slide pulls though, I bet one could tune 4 flat and use 3 to clean up the low range. Not that most people who buy a 4 valve F have low range intentions...
