no denting, barely any paint scuffing...I'll repair the Jupiter hard case to good condition (a circumferencial seam in the lid needs to be Gorilla-Glued).
SILVER-PLATED valve section (a few random parts are SHINY lacquer finish).
I sold off the (top-heavy) silver-plated brass bell and replaced it with a KING FIBERGLASS bell (MUCH better balanced).
$1750 ask ($4500 - $5000 new/online...even school bid would likely be upper $3XXX).
GREAT for YOUR NOLA brass band gigs or whatever...OR
GREAT for your middle school (or whatever) band.
(I'm a biz, have a tax number, etc., so your school can buy it from me.)
THIS HAS THE NEWER-ERA STAINLESS STEEL PISTONS, and not the funky plated ones, which tended to turn black and stick.
If a buyer ALREADY owns a brass Jupiter, King, or JP sousaphone (or King recording bass), I'd be willing to CONSIDER selling the Jupiter BODY AND CASE ONLY (with me holding onto the King fiberglass bell), but - really - it's probably best (for a buyer AND for me) to just sell the whole thing.
Would REALLY prefer that you come and get it...
I could (eventually) get it as far east of my (for someone's possible pick-up convenience) as suburban Nashville or (south of me) the Mississippi delta.
...I just don't have any easy ways of (no-cost) parking it (for the buyer's pick-up after payment) north or west of me.
I suppose it could ship, but (it seems to me) that would cost a lot. If shipped, I'd just do the FedExGround thing, and take it TO FedEx (to save the buyer the pick-up charge). If shipped, I'd stretch-wrap the case, and leave the handle(s) exposed.
I'm willing to push out the tiny dent near the brass/fiberglass junction (see picture).
If requested by the buyer, I'll shoot a little bit of white paint over the brass on the King bell.
LOL...I'll include the lyre (see pictures), which is bent to an optimum angle, and out far enough to allow for easier optical focusing.
The cheat-sheet index cards (with funky bass lines in the correct keys scribbled on them) are NOT INCLUDED.
OK...
I'll ALSO include a generic Helleberg knock-off...so the buyer's OWN mouthpiece would be subjected to possibly hitting the pavement (EVEN THOUGH I managed to round up BOTH bits sporting tension screws). A school buyer would ALSO (likely) need a mouthpiece to be included.
SOLD: PERFECT CONDITION Jupiter fiberglass sousaphone - silver plated valve section (mated with KING fiberglass bell)

@OhTubaGuy
What if - maybe after work - I record that old Sir Duke riff with both the King fiberglass bell and (just in case a potential buyer already owns a 22-inch bell King recording bass) ALSO with a 22" recording bass bell...??
Would that be enough of a demo...??
It should be interesting , because I've honestly never played Sir Duke, but know how it "goes"...
(I'm thinking I should play it in B-flat, so you can hear what the "low F" sounds like played on this thing.)

LOL...
I don't know why I thought of playing "Sir Duke"...
- I've never played it before.
- I don't have the sheet music to this riff.
If I played some of it wrong, my apologies.
Here's a demo with the INCLUDED King fiberglass bell:
Just in case a potential buyer has a King recording bass, here's the same instrument with a 22" brass recording bass bell
(King fits Jupiter.)
@OhTubaGuy
EDIT...
LOL...OK I just listened Steve Wonder on YouTube...It's actually in B-major (not B-flat) but whatever...
I had fun playing along in B, just now...I LOVE that chord change from tonic to major-flat-5...and then from 2 to 5.
...and if anyone is interested in buying this - and likes the sound of the 22" brass recording bell...
Here's one on eBay (missing the male tenon)...but those can be found used, bought new from King or Jupiter, or harvested off a busted-up King fiberglass bell: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125362230244
