SOLD: Conn/Reynolds valvesets + parts

Post by arpthark »

I bought these parts last year to add a valveset to my Lyon & Healy F tuba bugle, but I decided to go a different direction with that project.

Includes a grafted-together silver four piston set (3v Conn .656" bore + Reynolds .687" bore), a separate lacquered Reynolds three piston set (no valve buttons, sorry), and all the associated tubing. It's a lot of tubing! Most of it is silver, and some is dark brown lacquer. Since the Reynolds stroke is longer, the fourth valve sticks out a bit on the 4v set.

I can take Harbor Freight calipers and measure specific tubing if needed, but it seems all pretty standard to a Conn 12J and Abilene-era Reynolds horns. There may be a few King pieces in there, and there are a couple unbent, pitch-filled tubes.

note:

If button alignment cosmetics is a concern to a potential buyer, the riser in the center of the 4th valve cap can be shortened, and the 4th valve stem can then be shortened by the same amount. :smilie8:

^ had been my plan, but I decided to change directions before I got too involved with this.

Updated for some more precise measurement info.

I sorted this and photographed it. I think I actually have two sizes of small tubing -- my calipers suck, but I think one set is .656" and one is .660". I saw that the old Conn 15J used .660" tubing, so maybe that's what it is.

From left to right,
- Brown tubing and tuning slides that seems to be .656"

- 4 piston valveset (3 Conn .660" + 1 Reynolds .687" ) and tubing. All the silver tubing next to it is .660" Conn.

- Some silver Reynolds tubing

- Reynolds 3v block in lacquer.

- Spare piston

Also a couple lengths of tubing that are about .700" that don't fit as an outer slide tube to any of the inner slides on hand (on top of the calipers in the pic above)

Another shot of the 4p valveset:
