Not a professional repair guy by any means, but I always thought that acid bleed turned lacquer a bit darker, typically around solder joints, and that red rot was (well...) red. My Eastman has some acid bleed around some joints in the piston block. This, to me, looks like good ol' dezincification. Could defintely be wrong, and if I were on the Left Coast I'd be interested in checking it out. Waiting for a Pig to make its way out east, but alas...

Good point about the pinking, now that you say that. Hard to tell exactly what's up from photos. I wouldn't hazard a bid on it sight unseen!

I think this is what they used to call a "Compact Kaiser". They are in Bb and are like a King (new) 2341 as opposed to the taller 1241.Regarding the Piggy nomenclature they are the same big bore as a C Piggy but are physically bigger. Then there's that cute smaller .770 bore one that looks like a Piggy but is smaller bore.I've always wanted to try one, being a big fan of the huge 601 model but have only tried one many years ago. Tried to get one from Chuck Levins while on the circus in the 70's but the rep told me they had stopped stocking that model because they were badly out of tune. So who knows. But I'd, even now, like to try one. But I think Walter Sear was the only importer when I was bugging him every other week while stationed at West Point and although he always had alot of the various Cerveny models, he never had one of those.That's all I got' Best to all, Ed

That's a "tone gap," for added emphasis during rests.

Definitely funky. Might be bleed, Could be pinking from a cleaning underneath bad or missing lacquer. Could, indeed, be some wicked bad rot. First hand inspection would be the way to go.
