I know the seller of this horn (I live not too far from him). Honest and reputable!

I've played it.

It's front-heavy, but it works.

I was just responding to that silly threat of a fight (which was just a joke) by quoting Moe of The Three Stooges.

I'm not interested in the helicon. I have played it, and it plays okay. It's hard to hear because the sound is so far out front, and that bell is constantly trying to pull itself down to the ground due to the length and the weight of it. It's basically just a Conn 14k sousaphone in the shape of a Helicon, but it is a factory instrument.

The European versions balance better, it sounds like (especially the bass helicons that aren't round), but they don't use a sousaphone style bit assembly, which can mean ergonomic problems. I had the impression the American helicons did have those bits, though it looks to me like they're omitted here.

She then shoved it to the back of a second floor closet of their house in Winnetka IL where it stayed until her death @ 96 in 1988. I bought it from the estate. It was black from tarnish but like new except a bashed in knuckle on the second valve slide probably from being shoved in the closet.
That is both amazing and tragically sad at the same time.
