Gigi - a cheapie

Post by bloke »

(actually: GG)

Now that I've grown accustomed to BB-flat (after playing C for a half century), maybe I should dig deeper, and build myself a nice 5-valve GG...??

(apparently: a couple of hours north of Albany, NY)

...I wonder which corps' name is on that bell cover...

Maybe the seller meant none that "affect the sound."

Oh yeah, there's apparently some missing tubing. Does that affect the sound? Maybe an Ab bugle? Would be great for those S&S piccolo solos.

You sometimes come SO close...like 12.736 or something...

As I (aka "13") have made very clear, the E-flat tuba is THE trio strain obbligato (aka "piccolo") solo tuba.

Looking at more pics, I see some busted braces and a couple screw hose clamps on the tubing...

Don't you know the difference between busted braces, hose clamps, and dents? You're still not up to 13... :eyes:

Hey -- I'm still learning. Cut me some slack, here. I (almost) put my pants on correctly this morning.

Next time, try zipping the zipper and buttoning the button rather than buttoning the zipper and zipping the button. I can no longer tell you - though - that the zipper belongs in the front.

IIRC both Wade and the young guy from Ohio have made GG contrabass tubas out of these and Tony what's his name made a 6 valve G tenor/bass tuba thing, presumably out of a G euphonium bugle. Sounds fun! 😃
