Played a "well known tuba" today

I was traveling for work today, and was able to meet up with a tuba friend that I don't get to see too often. Nice to catch up, and was given an opportunity to play test a legendary tuba.

No hype, no exaggeration... the thing is just that darn good. That's all I'll say about that!

Was the most playing I've done in 8 months. And the first "serious" tuba I've played in over a year. I haven't missed playing, because I haven't stopped long enough to contemplate whether or not I miss it.

Well, turns out that I do miss it. I don't have much time to do much more right now.... but just good to know that I didn't totally forget how to play, and I could make the cool tuba make some cool sounds. When I'm ready for tubas, tubas will be ready for me!

Nah, I guess I had to say *something*... but out of respect, I won't make a big deal out of it, because my friend sure doesn't either.

Besides, that was a long trip to Hungary and back.

Frankly, the tuba stuff is cool, but it was far better to meet up with a friend in their town, hang out, and play (any) tuba for the first time in a long time. Those were the actual best parts.

I own all the subsequent ones (4 through 2039 - after they moved production to Canada)...those that play in tune without pulling any slides...

Always wondered if that subburb of Toronto was named after the tuba or vice versa. It's clearly the former. Thanks for the insight!
