Inexpensive borescope recommendations

Post by martyneilan »

Looking for an inexpensive borescope for aligning valves that can get through all the tight turns. Will probably use it on my motorcycle as well. Any suggestions?

Would I be able to put that through a 1st or 3rd valve loop?

Not a right angle. It has a mirror on it but it sucks

For valve alignment take out the number 2 valve and use a dental mirror to look at 1 and 3. Then take out 1 or 3 to look at 2

Interesting idea - would that work on rotors?

Yeah, but usually with rotors the boroscope will slide through the leadpipe or backwards through the main tuning slide

The dental mirror plus a light shone down the valve bore works. What’s worked better for me is making my own mirror (from a mirrored acrylic disc) and a bent piece of wire. The disc is at 45 degrees to the positioning arm. I’ve also just used right angle probes between valve casings and that’s been pretty accurate too.
