Any bass clef duet..

Post by cktuba »

... arrangements of old jazz standards out there? My son and I would like to work some up and play at the local nursing home. I know... arrange your own... will be a popular answer. But life doesn't allow time for that and any arrangement by me would suck.

Not jazz standards, but check out the Bop Duets book by Bugs Bower.

Would bass clef fake books help? One of you can read the written melody, and the other can pick notes from the chord markings.

I play with a the Rosecity Banjoliers. I usually have only a cord chart to go on. The same happens when I am playing with the blues jam. I usually just get the Key and whether it is a quick 4 or not. I think a fake book would work and be easier to get. I am not a very good sight reader, ( and I play to many instruments),the charts allow me the freedom to improv. The Banjoiers usually play at the old folk's homes. They are always happy to us and easily pleased. But they do like a wide range of music, not just jazz. WE just added a new younger singer, 71, to help as our older singers are getting weak.
