I like them, but Joe’s have more options.

Giddings seems to tailor a lot of his stuff to big names, Mr. Baer, Fossi, etc.

However, some of his stuff for bass tubas I really liked.

I believe he’s always at Midwest if you’d like to try his whole line, FWIW.

There’s supposed to be one modeled after Roger Bobo’s Volare called “Hawk” that looks interesting. Never seen one nor heard of it before. I really would be surprised to find one floating around used yet… I think it only comes in standard American shank.

I'm headed past his place at the end of the month (a weekend-long gig and school band bidnuss very near the birthplace of Pharaoh Elvi).
Send me a message towards the end of the month, and I'll see about leaving an hour early, stopping by and checking out that 'piece for you.
He's been wanting me to come see his shop, and I have not as yet...' good reason to visit.

If you tell me what it's FOR (ie. what type of tuba, or what type of playing...), I - at least - tote along that TYPE of instrument...

Hey all,

Looking for the best way or place to buy a Giddings mouthpiece. I looking at one of the newer, less common models. Also looks like there’s three finish options. Anyone have experiences to share about the differences between them?

Ivan's a great guy. Call or message him - he can assist you directly. He isn't afraid to tinker and has come up with some pretty good stuff. I probably half a dozen of his pieces.

While I prefer Joe's stuff, Ivan's mouthpieces are great too. I keep a MMVI in the herd for CC mostly as a back up piece or for when I'm trying a new horn out and want to see what something a little different sounds like.

That’s a coincidence! I actually have the MMVI in both shanks around for the same reason. It’s kinda why I’m interested in this Hawk.

That's funny. I use the Sellmansberger Symphony with a larger shank (CC) and Sellmansberger Solo with a 0 shank (F) as my daily drivers.

The hawk mp looks interesting. Please report back after/if you try it.
