Re: Vintage BBb?
I was eyeing that. I think it's actually an F or Eb. Not enough guts to get to BBb. @TheBerlinerTuba, any info on this?

Re: Vintage BBb?
I'll put my nickel on BBb. Ah, I mistook some valve tubing in back for main bugle. Maybe Eb then.

My Ukrainian kopiika is on F. Looks kinda like a Scherzer with the short horizontal MTS , but the braces are Alexander-y.

Well, someone grabbed the Migma. Let's hope it wasn't exposed to magma. And there's an off-color joke or two buried somewhere in that name, but I'm not gonna touch it.

Re: Vintage BBb?
Now that is definitely a vintage BBb!hrender wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:58 am Not a Migma, but another vintage horn here:

Looks like a very no-frills/un-fancy B&S/"Sonora"/"Meister Gerhard Schneider."

Re: Vintage BBb?
I'd say it's a "Weltklang" stencil, since it doesn't have a kranz. ISTR that was their "student model". Still the same basic B&S 101, should be a good player.
Principal tuba, Bel Air Community Band
Old (early 1900s?) Alexander BBb proto-163
1976 Sonora (B&S 101) 4-rotor BBb

1970s Marzan Slant-rotor BBb

Re: Vintage BBb?
Ja, danke. No kranz, and no nickel silver at all, even the ferrules and whatnot.Heavy_Metal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:33 pm I'd say it's a "Weltklang" stencil, since it doesn't have a kranz. ISTR that was their "student model". Still the same basic B&S 101, should be a good player.

I must be spoiled for taking those things (and whatnots) for granted.

Re: Vintage BBb?
Hard to say without the dimensions. An Eb or F for sure, but need the length of the 2nd valve circuit to confirm which key.
Based on the bracing and thumbring I would bet on Knoth or Wunderlich as the maker but it could be Horst Voigt as well. Not a huge difference either way...
