I have a Mirafone C8WM. I can't find anything about it but it's a great F tuba mouthpiece. Does anyone know anything about it?

Based on Winston's long-standing relationship with Miraphone (especially when they were Mirafone), that'd be my guess. You might shoot him an email.

Thanks Bort! This is as close to the magic Bydlo mouthpiece that I've ever played. I can't decide on the low register yet.

I have the TU13 version. It really lightens up the sound of my YFB-822, just like the staff member (I'm sorry that I can't remember his name, because he was extremely helpful, patient, and kind) suggested. I recommend it for anyone considering ditching their 822 or other what could be considered "too big" F tubas. Try it. According to my wife (a clarinetest and honest judge of pitch, blend, balance, etc) it nudges my sound out of the "small CC" sound (i.e., like an old 185) and closer to the sound I got out of the Symphonie that I had to leave behind when I left the band at Langley AFB. Makes the sonic/tembre difference between the trombone and the tuba in our quintet (...basically, a bunch of tech geeks who still make time to practice...) less of a jump. Certainly worth a try if you're on the fence about keeping vs. selling a "too big" F to make a greater distinction between your bass and contra.

And, if anyone by any chance knows where that old Symphonie--probably one of the last ones sold by CMC back in '89--might have ended up please let me know. I really miss that horn--6 valves (4+2), gold brass, classic cobalt blue "B&S" on the main tuning slide, Alex-like sound without the characteristic intonation quirks of the time. It's one that would be worth picking up. Surely it's been excessed long ago and was bought by someone, somewhere. I hope where ever it is that someone's enjoying it.
