We have always had a big friendly group of tuba players here in the Chicago area and the word would spread about this concert. There was no shortage of tuba players that would show up. Gene played clarinet and his wife played tuba. Really great fun. Think of it as Sousa on Steroids. I think for a lot of folks those concerts were a nice way to pick up their instruments once again and play in a group.
