Seems to be in good shape aside from the bell. I'd be interested if I:

a) had any money
b) were any closer
c) the story of my (tuba) life

Good price if the valves move on it. Those can be pretty decent

Sidebar: don't you guys think this is a weird horn for China to have copied?

- boutique maker
- not popular in the states
- intonation purportedly a bit wonky
- lots of these play at A=443+ (may have been addressed in recent years)

Just interesting they chose a somewhat obscure Hirsbrunner instead of a Miraphone 186, Cerveny 681, Yamaha 641, etc.

Silly communists!
That's just what they said about B&S in the 70s, right?

I think they all have a 186 clone and users say they are rather "186ish".

The 186 was chosen to copy, yes... But I don't think there's currently a BBb (Miraphone) 186 clone out there. Prove me wrong? (The dinky MW 186, however, was copied, along with the tall B&S 101.)

The Yamaha 641 did eventually get copied, as did the MW 25, and they chose the Cerveny 683 (Arion) to clone, not the 681 or 686.

Oh yeah, I was talking specifically about BBb -- I like the Jin Bao 410/Miraclone CCs pretty well (have owned 3).

My point was that I found it interesting that the most successful/popular 4v rotary BBb tuba design of the 20th century (exemplified by the Cerveny 681/686 and the Miraphone 186) was not chosen as a candidate, but all those models you listed (somehow) were!
