Name guitar-model/tuba-model equivalents, and explain why.

King 2341 or Conn 5J=Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster- good, basic, priced for the Everyman.

Miraphone or Meinl Weston=Gibson Les Paul -pricier, mire “professional”.

Lee Stofer Custom, Willson, Yamayork=Paul Reed Smith-very expensive, only for those with deep pockets.

My 2 cents for what it’s worth!
King 2341 “new style”
Kanstul 902-3B
Conn Helleberg Standard 120

Y'all may think that I started this thread just to post this, but I just now thought of it - and I was mostly trying to think of something I could compare to a Besson, but really couldn't.

Miraphone 98
- Gretsch Country Gentleman

OK...

classic Besson 17" bell compensating B-flat (various names) - Gibson ES-335 (vintage/original)

For the Besson I would compare the classic Eb compensators with the Gibson 335. Classy sound and very versatile. With the Besson Bb I think more of the good old upright bass, solid sound but a bit clumsy (a british friend named the Besson Bbs once "bubble-basses")
And: Courtois french C / National single cone tenor. They look weird and tiny but sound great in the right hands
:tuba: ...with a song in my heart!
