Schmitt Music here in Minnesota has one, too. Unfortunately, I strolled in like 5 minutes before closing time, so I didn't try it yet.

They told me that since Eastman bought Willson, they would have easier access to them and would have some on display.

Since Dillon is an Eastman dealer too, I'd guess it's the same kind of thing. Subject to Matt and Steve Dillon's discretion of keeping non-sellers off the floor!

Well I guess it has it all: new valve block that gives perfect intonation, plus easily accessible slides so you can, apparently, mess with that perfect intonation.

That’s probably a really good instrument. I’m eager to try it out when I have the chance!

I'm excited for when the "Mad Madam Mim" version in BBb comes out.

Are some tubas genuinely easier to play softly than others (as suggested by the write-up)?

A friend (who posts here occasionally) tried the local one today, said it played great and had a huge low end.

I'll have to find out for myself. I saw it on a shelf for about 30 seconds. Didn't strike me as a small tuba. But also not like those over bloated big 4/4 tubas either.

it's funny how we're getting so used to seeing $15K tubas that nobody bats an eye anymore.

That’s actually a pretty good price for something from Willson… Mostly in line with the Yamaha 4/4. Generally obtainable should you want it.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a LOT of money for a tuba, but it’s less than what I expected from somebody like Willson.
