The UK's series of Brass Band Regional Championships kicked off this weekend.
In the North West area (Lancashire, Cheshire and bits of Cumbria) we (Foden's) were placed first in the Top Section for the 8th year running. We'd already pre qualified for the finals anyway, but the piece is of interest to Tuba players as it's a very bass heavy composition, with each of the 4 tubas taking a small solo, and a bass led fugue at the end. There are a couple of split notes but it was a good show in the main.
Variations on an Enigma by Philip Sparke. It's only a phone video (from a random audience member!), but it's surprisingly good sound.
If anyone wants a look at the parts, drop me a message.
