Alex 173

Post by Chris Mayer »

Hi,

has anyone played or owned the Alex 173 CC tuba ? How does it play and compare to a 163 CC. I have payed 163 and 164 Bb abd PT CC. I am considering buying a new CC (and as the 173 is out of the catalogue, I might have to resume the built at Alexander). Just want to have your opinion as I have never played one, but always had an eye on it due to the slightly smaller bore (more agility, …overall CC tuba etc)

thanks

chris

I had one. I loved it. Short action valves. Beautiful sound. The only thing weird about it was the 5th valve was a minor third valve. I sold it when I went to the 6/4 CC thing. Played the 173 for years.
