Whenever I see that the four of us (in particular) are always booked together on a gig, I always smile, because I know there will be NO tuning, timing, phrasing, nor "personality" issues, and everything will be "just right" while - at the same time - everything will be effortless.
The four of are Greg Luscombe, Ken Spain (God's gift to the 2nd trombone), Mark Vail, and myself.
To be clear, I COMPLETELY credit Ken with the "million dollar" sound.
The SECOND TROMBONE - more than anyone else in a low brass section - tunes the chords.
I posted some of these church gig videos on the "old" site, but was just reminded of these, because someone just asked (private message) "How does a Thor sound?" (the answer being "It depends", yes?)
There are at least seven years of these (Memphis) First Evangelical Church Palm Sunday and Yuletide orchestra/choir concerts that Ron Man (the choir director/conductor) uploaded to YouTube.
The quality of the audio varies from concert to concert, but - regardless of the quality of the arranging and the style of the music - the four of us are always "right there".
Here's only one of them...
I took me about 10 - 15 minutes to find all the low brass stuff and listen to it...It's pretty easy...just watch for the tuba bell to go up.
...and sure: Some concerts feature better arrangements that others...

Re: million dollar low brass section
This seems to have found a bunch of them...
...I had to miss Palm Sunday, 2014 (conflict).

One or two of the later ones (rather than acoustic mics up in the balcony) recorded from house p.a. mics' feed, so those sound crappy.
