Those Multitudinous Yazoo City Online Adverts…

Post by the elephant »

I am not selling anything at all online right now, save for two old FB Marketplace ads for my Kurath and Holton.

I suspect the guy (who seems to have sold or is currently selling at least a couple hundred instruments) is a new local HS director who has received permission to re-outfit the new band by selling off 100% of their old stock. This is 100% conjecture. I know the City HS hired a new director a few years back, as did the County HS. The County has never had a band so has nothing to sell off. The City HS had a lot of beater/junk instruments that someone slapped back together (very poorly) and which are now up for sale. So all this is a WAG on my part.

However, having had to learn to weed out all the hundreds of post-Katrina stolen instruments that were pillaged from all the closed band halls after that notorious hurricane, as well as the extremely long time these thieves took too carefully sell these horns off to avoid the police, it very well could be that several local band halls were robbed and cleaned out, and now the moron/morons involved are selling the stuff off out of a house in my town.

I do not know. I am intentionally unplugged from the local life. I have not read our "fish wrapper" newspaper since 2008 and do not speak with anyone local, ever. (I am very happy to pull an "ostrich" in this town, believe me.) So no, none of the many horns for sale online coming from Yazoo City (via FB, CL, eBay, or Reverb) are mine. I would avoid this seller like the plague.

But hey, that's just me…

[N.B. — I have old ads for my Kurath and my Holton on FB Marketplace that I cannot seem to delete. If you see those they are legit, but out of date, with inaccurate descriptions and prices. Please disregard them.]
