WTB/WTT for a Front Action Euphonium

Post by Wookieman »

I am looking to buy or trade for an affordable front action euphonium in playable condition from a reputable brand. Asian brands are fine as long as they are good established brands of known origin and quality. Piston or rotary valves are fine. 4 valves are preferred, but I will consider 3 valve horns.

I want something that is considered a euphonium not a baritone. This can be somewhat subjective, but I prefer a more conical, larger bore instrument. An American style Euphonium seems to be the most common, but a German style, rotary valve, oval shaped, Kaiser Baritone may fit the bill. Other variations could work as long as it is a front valve, bell on the player's right side, pointing to the players left, reasonably ergonomic instrument. Please let me know what you have.

I played tuba in the past and recently purchased a top action euphonium. Due to carpal tunnel and other ergonomic issues, I'm not getting along with the top action valves.

I am located in East Tennessee and could make a day's drive for the right instrument although it may be a couple of weeks before I can make the drive due to personal and work obligations. I could factor shipping into the cost for the right instrument if you are willing to ship.

I would like to spend no more than $600-700, but less is better.

I can offer the following for trade +/- cash depending on what you have. I can provide pictures upon request:

Jupiter JEP768 Euphonium in mechanically very good, and aesthetically fair condition. 4 top action valves, non-compensating. All valves and slides move as they should. There are some dents and scratches, but from 10 feet away it looks good. It is a good playing instrument. Comes with a good hard case. Trade value $600.

King 606 beginner's trombone in mechanically and aesthetically good condition. This is a .500 bore beginners instrument. The slide and tuning slide move as they should. There are some small dents and scratches. Plays like a beginners trombone. Comes with a good hard case. Trade value $200
