off-the-cuff weight estimate: MTS 4/4 case
Any idea how much one of these weighs? Maybe 15-20 lbs?

Their website says 40.24 lbs…
Is that in the “carton?” Not sure.

On TN, someone posted that MTS also gave a “spec weight” of 27.48 lbs, so…
I’m no help!

A wee bit more than expected! I think that might be in the carton though. Thanks!MiBrassFS wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 3:57 pm Their website says 40.24 lbs…

I had the jumbo MTS case and I’m guessing it weighed at most 25lbs? Certainly less than the 2165 it would hold.
I’d guess that 15-20 lbs estimate for the 4/4 case is good.

I would count on 20 or so for something big enough to carry a 186.
I have a shorty one here that's only about 3 ft long that accommodates my 19-in bell 32-in tuba, and I have another silver colored one here which is holding one of those King shoulder mounted contras. That one I know is the same frame that holds a 5450 Thor, so five quarter on that one. I'm just too exhausted to weigh them right now. I've been delivering and repairing horns all day.
The two cases mentioned above are probably smaller and larger than four quarter.
