how I handle keeping track of misc. summer gigs...

Post by bloke »

I don't count on being called for any (as "summer" and "January" tend to be sorta "dead"), but inevitably do.
I see these first thing each morning, obviously.

I really don't have time to leave here to go play gigs during the summer, but it's probably good for my mental health to leave the property - every once in a while - and go play music, rather than wall-to-wall (10 hrs./day 7 days/week) un-destroy a bunch of shamefully-damaged instruments.

One of those sheets has three engagements on it. I should probably redo that one into three sheets, and put them in chronological order within the others.

Yes. The sink is filthy.
I SHOULD wash my face and hands PRIOR to leaving the shop - every time, but sometimes I forget...The crappy dish soap (off to the right) is the least-strong thing that cuts shop dirt/grease.

If any of these involve receiving a check in the mail LATER, I move them over in front of Mrs. bloke's sink, and - when she retrives the checks from the mailbox - she then moves the particular piece of paper to the trash bin.

For mid-Sept through May, I have a spreadsheet thingie for gigs. I have a copy in my phone, on my laptop, and one printed out on paper (which gets handwritten revisions). I don't trust any "calendar" or "reminder" or whatever phone functions...I just don't...and I don't trust "the cloud" (ie. "someone's else computer").

But aren’t a lot of these gigs with the viola player, and the trombonist, with unrealistic modifications attempted on his horns. You need to charge more for gigs, and repairs
