Mine weights 26 lbs.

If you google you will find a bunch of people quoting the Jacksonville State Marching Southerners website claiming that the 20J weights 52 Lbs and the 24J weighs 60 Lbs. These numbers are just plain wrong, and are basically 2X the actual weight.

A 20J can weigh 52 pounds if you've dropped a couple of 12-packs of beer down it. College kids. My 25J weighed 31 pounds (no brew).

So... doing the math if the 20j is 26lbs and 25j is 31lbs, roughly speaking the 4th valve circuit adds 5 lbs?

And maybe those who get 50lb readings are on... Neptune?

From what I understand, that's right, 50 pounds is a very high weight, 26 pounds I'm happier with that number.

Over the years, Conn changed the weight of the horns. I don't know if they used different alloys or different thicknesses of metal, or whatever. I've put 20J's on scales over the years, and they've varied from 26-29 pounds. I also had a G&W Bayamo on the 25J when I weighed it, so it may have actually been a pound or so lighter.

Or maybe I just had crappy scales . . .
