Always been intrigued by the Marzans but never had a chance to play them.

These were, indeed, always intriguing. I liked the proportions. I never really dug tubas with angled valve sets, but I never had the chance to spend any time with either model, piston or rotary, so I can’t say one way or the other with these.

What I will say is that there’s a surprisingly large amount of tuba players in Michigan! They’re everywhere!

+1 on angled valvesets. Conn 2J and the like, talk about wrist-ache. I am also a short guy and find it hard to play with the tuba resting in my lap or on top of my legs, as opposed to on the chair, etc., so that may be contribute to my ergonomic woes. Funnily, one of the main tubas that get flak for weird valveset placement -- the Yamaha 621 series -- I find to be very comfortable.

I'd be curious to try this Marzan, and the price is pretty decent for a tune-on-the-fly 5v CC tuba.

Michigan should send some of their tuba players to Connecticut. They're rare as hen's teeth in my neck of the woods. I'd love a duet partner!

The piston version I have is extraordinarily comfortable for tall guys like me. I’ve played BBb rotor versions and really liked how comfortable it was. FWIW…

As a really really tall guy, I can say that angled valvesets are the best thing in the world

I'm also a big fan of angled valve sets.

I have a nice example of this horn and as a short guy I don't love it, I may want to sell mine and get something different. I have played the small Mirafone (184?) and I like that.
