I've seen several of these for sale all for $800. I think they are cool as a novelty but not $800 cool. If I found one for $300 I would snap it up to noodle on.
As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

Agreed, I think it's a fair price for the condition (if valves are good) but not a gotta-buy-it price. I'd love to try one out.
Speaking of slightly cheaper 9-foot-long brass instruments, there is a Cerveny oval euph down around north of Cincy that I've been eyeing for a while. Might have one of my friends in KY snag it for me.
