45SLP Leadpipes

Post by Sousaswag »

...Or, rather, 6450 leadpipe. I have one. I ordered it through a Buffet dealer about 5 months ago, was quoted 3-6 month wait time, and, to my absolute surprise, IT SHOWED UP!!!

I'm bringing it to Keith's today for my 2165. We will also be able to compare it to the pipe that's on there currently to see if what it currently has is indeed an SLP/6450 pipe.

I'm so surprised, and excited, that I was able to get one of these. And, I'm not the only one on this forum who was able to get one... :smilie8:

Maybe their parts availability is improving?

It cost me just over $300.

Part number: "Mouthpipe 6450 Meinl Weston" - SP515130

That looks suspiciously like a classroom behind that lead pipe.

That is correct. Beginning band camp starts soon. I ordered the pipe from the same company who happens to do my school deliveries. To avoid driving 2 hours to their nearest store, I had them drop it at one of my schools

That looks a lot like this one I received a couple weeks ago :teeth: .

Now to have the patience to find the right person to install it.

I just noticed (‘cause I looked…) that these are hydraulically formed and untrimmed. ID and OD at each after trimming would great to have if either of you has the opportunity to measure.

When Keith gets this thing ready to install on my 2165, I asked him to take some measurements. Should be no more than 2 weeks or so for the tuba to be done.
