All is achieved by adding only one part to the tuba which can be installed subsequently to any instrument of a similar system. The innovation enables the musician to move freely on stage while requiring only minimal balancing. It also provides a full view of the conductor, without covering the face, and in the meanwhile, the tuba is targeted on the audience."

I saw that the other day, too, and also thought it was a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Neat, I guess, but... :eyes:

Roland connects with the audience just fine on whatever instrument he plays, standing or sitting.
I understand Eye contact with the audience on tuba while playing has limits.
Two bass brass instrument types already exist that easily connect with the audience.
Tweaking these instrument types could make them as transportable as a tuba.
How? you say. Start with a smaller screw bell, split the body circle in half, 4 pieces for sousaphone,
3 for helicon. Travel easy with a square rectangular trunk.

It seems like he wants to have something he can call his. I don't see a problem with it, but I feel like a tuba stand like Siegfried Jung uses would be easier.

It's more-or-less a factory-made jazzophone. Ian (Mithosphere/Kiltie) has or had one, along with Oren Marshall (Orenophone) and Sergio Carolino (Lusophone). Harvey Hartman (RIP) made Ian's, I think he also might have made one or both of the others.

Welll....I don't particularly need eye contact with the audience as either a performer or a listener. As a performer, I prefer to be as hidden as possible anyway. What I want is EAR contact, because, well, you know, it's not a picture, it's music.

That looks cool. If only that system made the tuba lighter in weight, cheaper in cost, compensate for my lack of skill and practice, create paying patrons, PLUS return my old knees and feet to a younger less painful version that actually wants to stand and walk around on a stage. If it did all that, I'd take two.
