Sanders/Cerveny Piggy - Cockeysville, MD
This has been up for quite a while. Lots of miles apparent, but price is okay.

Same location has a Dillon M1C. I remember when these were all the rage.

I like it - lots of character! BBb or C? Doesn't say in the ad.

Re: Sanders/Cerveny Piggy - Cockeysville, MD
I know there is a player local to me that has one. I first saw him playing it in a quintet at our local Christmas tree lighting several years ago. He also plays in at least one local community band. It's the only one I have ever seen.

Re: Sanders/Cerveny Piggy - Cockeysville, MD
My one problem with the piggy is that my head is so close to the Bell it can be uncomfortable. I remember playing one piggy, perhaps the lead pipe was changed, where there was almost no room for my head at all.
But then of course, Mark Finley comes along and says, hey I'm 60 ft tall and this tuba is awesome I love the piggy. And then I don't know what to think.
My brother only lives a few miles away from cockeysville, maybe I should send him out there to check it out. I honestly I'm not sure if he's ever played a tuba in his life. :)

Re: Sanders/Cerveny Piggy - Cockeysville, MD
I did a double take when I saw it. I had to ask him what it was after he was done playing his set. It looked just like a piggy but in BBb. If I remember correctly, he said it was a special order.LeMark wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 3:43 pm835 bore and vertical tuning slide? Dunno about time to deliver or if it's a "real" piggy, but you can get a CBB-603 via ebay.

Re: Sanders/Cerveny Piggy - Cockeysville, MD
I bought this horn for $1600. It IS a C tuba. Took it into the shop for a restoration. Will post pics when I get it home. Right now, it looks just like the pics that are already posted.
Backstory:
My college instructor (a Harvey Phillips protege) had one that is/was identical to this horn. 38 years ago, he let me play the horn for a minute and I fell for it. And now, it's MINE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahaaahaaaaa!!!!!

Congrats on the purchase. My college instructor in 1979 also had one, and I was always impressed how he sounded on his. I don't have much use for a compact CC at this point, so I scratched my Cerveny itch with an old Kaiser.wyotriumphrider wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 11:41 am I bought this horn for $1600. It IS a C tuba. By all means laugh some more, if you need to get it out of your system. Likewise maniacal energy can always be put to good use, so feel free to just let it simmer indefinitely. Both are fine options.wyotriumphrider wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 11:41 am ... And now, it's MINE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahaaahaaaaa!!!!!
But there is apparently a special kind of insanity associated with 5 exclamation points*, so... do be careful.
And definitely play that there piggy like the big bad wolf was at the door! Or some other more appropriate, but no less spirited expression of encouragement!
Congrats!

If it doesn’t work out for you, you can always use that thumb ring as a nose ring for a bull, or as a cleat to moor an ocean liner.
