Nice price, cool tuba, lots of extras. Vintage leather Miraphone bag, mute, mute case. Here is what the ad says, for posterity:

This is truly a great playing Tuba at a great price. It is a 1975 Miraphone 5 rotary valve BBb tuba. 16 1/2 inch bellsize, gold and silver trim finish, 40 inches high, 20 lbs. Comes with Miraphone gig bag and mute. Also COON-HELLEBERG mouthpiece and black case. It does have scratches on the backside of the bottom bow, and minor dings or two but the guy who cleaned it from The Music Mart in Mankato Minnesota is also a tuba player stated it plays very good! While at The Music Mart horn was cleaned, pulled frozen slides , replaced water key cork, rotor stop bummers, oiled rotors, and greased tuning slides. The fifth rotor lever was refabricated. New hinged rod for the 5th lever bridge, silver soldered lever rod to bridge and replaced rod nut. I have had the tuba since fall of 1986 when I played with Mankato State University Wind Ensemble under direction Dr. Stewart Ross. Have had it appraised through The Tuba Exchange out of Durham North Carolina highly reputable musical store. It's soul purpose is Tuba's whether selling, repairing or anything else tuba's.
I am asking a fair price of $3,000.

Linkages have been replaced, right? Mirafones (with an “f”) of that era would have had S linkages, yes?

Nice looking horn. If I were buying it I would want to know what’s going on behind the leather guards.

At that price I predict it won’t last long at all. I’ve seen 4 valve ones in much worse shape sell for more.

1975 and plastic ball seems right to me. I agree about the leather guard, but given the condition of the rest of the tuba, I'd be willing to bet it's just fine. We'll (try to) see!

Wow. That looks cool, with seemingly a great price.

I have a similar size B&S Bb tuba from about that era, and I've been surprised how much I appreciate having a 5th valve -- more than I expected to when I got it.
