(Since it has been a little while - this is regarding my 1928 Martin Monster Recording Eb)
humBell wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 6:07 pm Not as certain as i feel i should be, and recording bell may skew things, but i believe 20" is the mammoth model on eb?

Out of curiosity, what is the collar diameter?

I can speculate that is a blast to play.
Definitely a 20” bell. Collar ID is 6.6”.

Valves are a little worn but does ok with a lot of oil. And it certainly gets attention wherever it goes.

Fun stuff!

That's a lot of trailer (and trailer occupants) for a garden tractor (even a diesel Deere 330. Obviously it did fine, but is somehow looks humorous.

I like it!

I tore up a transmission on one of those things pulling a small trailer around, but I was pulling firewood up a steep hill out of the woods, and not pulling on flat pavement. Once you get it moving on a flat smooth surface, it doesn't have much of a job to do after that.

I did take a couple of years for me to tear that transmission up doing that stuff.

It's not as easy as it looks to play music on a moving trailer. I've done it several times. I guess it's sort of fun but it's also sort of hard. :teeth:  :bow2: :smilie7:

Just got a note from Marie Lauren after wishing her a Happy Birthday today,
"Thanks Cousin Dale! One of my daughters plays the euphonium (baritone). Go low brass!"

Time to re-post with just a partial stable. Would have included the viola just to trigger Schlitz but it was too much trouble to get it out. So just the ones being played by me or others.
Boxes to make the floor-to-lap transfer easier. I am too old-lady shaky to get a less fuzzy picture.

Our formerly-named tuba-euphonium ensemble now reinvented as the Low Brass Ensemble at our first Octoberfest performance of the year. We had a hard time finding 2 euphonium players who were willing to be regulars, and our lead euphonium was a trombonist in real life. The new trombone player on the left is the orthopedic surgeon who will be replacing my left shoulder in two weeks (he already did the right one), and he is also one of my former band students. The ensemble sound is a bit different, but it is quite good, especially on the jazz pieces we threw into the mix. I'm the old fat guy at far right.
