Really?? a) it's a march being played by a military band at marching pace and b), as one of the token Brits here, I fully appreciate banter but would take some exception to stereotyping.... courtesy prevents me from responding in kind....

Fivevalves wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 4:14 am From the perspective of the British Army (I'm a reservist Nursing Officer but have moonlighted in some bands...), both tempi are a bit slow! Marches are there to march to - the British Army (apart from the Light Infantry types), recognise a slow march at 60 bpm and a quick march at 120 bpm. Take a look at The Queens Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) where the troops will march past in both slow and quick time for example

Excellent post, Fivevalves. Thanks. I watched the link you provided and, sure enough, the British band played slow at exactly 60 bpm. Similarly, that band played quick time at exactly 120 bpm. Uncanny how the tempi can be spot on.

Best,

Ace

As with any video link, the viewer has the option of using the mouse pointer to quickly scan through the video. You did know this, right? Maybe not. It took me all of four minutes to identify the spots where I could take a reading on the tempi. I am pleased that the poster was kind enough to send this video.

Its courteous to post a time if you are going to post a link to a 2 hour plus video. You would have saved 4 minutes.
