At the risk of kicking the beehive with no clothes on, the main reason I eschew the whole "virtual performing" thing is that it tries to normalize a situation that is anything but normal.

This is in addition to all the other previously stated reasons.

And for the record, I had a similar distaste for DJs when they came on the scene.

I'm still waiting for computers to get helpful like in Star Trek. When I can say, "Hey computer. Do whatever you have to do so I can participate in "whatever". Just make it work and don't ask me what Format or any other 'eyes rolling into the back of my head' questions." Then maybe I would join in on a Virtual Tuba Christmas.

Making excuses for why things can't be done is lazy.

Finding solutions that make things happen is The American Way!! :woot!

I'm getting together tonight with a quartet to go play at the red kettle at a Hobby Lobby for about 45 minutes, then heading to two 15 minute "driveway concerts" we did a silent auction for via Facebook. The proceeds will be donated to a local charity. I couldn't let a December pass by without playing from the TubaChristmas book!

I also played around with recording myself playing all four parts of "The First Noel" in my basement with my laptop, Audacity (free) recording software, and a Blue Yeti mic. It was enjoyable. I might try a few more tunes.
