That's certainly tall, seemingly taller by some than the one I traded to Norm. Maybe it's close. Great sound out of these horns though.

As Peterbas stated, nickelplated instruments were standard in Belgium and the Netherlands after WWI till around 1975/1980. As far as I remember, the first Miraphone instruments that appeared in these areas were tubas and rotary valve barytons with upright bell. Certainly Hanssen in Kerkrade carried those instruments, as well as Adams in Weert (NL), whose business (after he deceased at rather young age) was continued by his cousin André Adams from Thorn (NL), the founder of Adams Musical Instruments. Adams introduced the Miraphone rotary barytons in The Netherlands around 1967. I got my first one of those in 1970. Now and then those nickel-plated instruments still show up over here more or less (mostly more) heavily used.

I included France, because many old Gautrot and Couesnon instruments that I encounter are nickel plated...also Geographically adjacent to Belgium, and shares a language.

Were the nickel-plated instruments pure nickel or some sort of alloy, like nickel silver?
